With an object height of 17mm and a step down of 3mm Kiri:Moto seems to figure out that 6 passes of an actual step down of 2.84mm need to be generated. So far so good.
But when Z Bottom is defined to e.g. 1mm, the same step down of 2.84mm is used and only the last pass is dropped. This leaves 2.84mm of material instead of 1mm.
Not sure if this is a bug. Maybe the Z Bottom should have been part of the initial step down calculation.
I also noticed an issue with Z Bottom not being honored in Outline. In my case, it acts up when multiple parts are placed in the space. The Z Bottom will be honored by one or two of the parts, but not all of them. If I delete the parts that Z Bottom was working for, then the ones that weren’t working will start to honor Z Bottom again. Adding them back in doesn’t solve the problem. I ended up using trace or rough and that seemed to work.
Thanks so much for the tool. It’s been great to work with.
In the case of multiple different height parts, I would recommend using one trace operation for each and selecting the bottom edge. then set a step down the same way you would with outline. I have work to do to better accommodate situations like this with multiple bodies.
Got your workspace. Thanks! This looks like a ‘Z Thru’ bug since it’s only applied to one of the workspace objects. Will see if this is an easy fix and update you later today.
