Recutting? configured something wrong

I hope someone can tell me what I have set incorrectly. Machine time is excessive because I am cutting air the majority of the time. My first roughing pass did as expected and removed the majority of material. second pass with a smaller bit spends most of the time cutting air where the first pass has already been. The third and final looks like it will again be cutting mostly air, this last pass is only required to clean out between the fingers as it is the bit that will fit.

I thought maybe I am transferring the files incorrectly. I moved three files across with only one of them active each time. The file is cutting beautifully but is wasting an awful lot of effort.
Thank you for suggestions.

a few things:

  1. 1/16" tool was defined as metric but units were imperial (fixed)
  2. depth first (enabled) will dramatically speed up the cut time
  3. replaced two roughing passes (any more than one will cut a lot of air) with targeted pocket and outline passes

the incorrect 1/16" was dramatically increasing cut time, as well.

Thankyou Stewart.

I label things often as imperial though I use metric, must have gotten that one wrong.

Will go make corrections.
Do you know anyone that mills wax for casting?
