There are four areas selected for pocket opertion. They should route down from the top to a depth of 3 mm. However, the material is getting cut through nearly to the spoil board. KMZ file
The material is 5 mm thick and animate seems to show only cutting down 3 mm.
But when I look at the gcode, it seems that the pockets are being cut to 4.5 mm.
What am I doing wrong?
you have Z Thru
set to 0.4
under the left Limits
menu. This will cause cuts to go 0.4mm
thru the bottom of the default cut depth.

Thanks for your reply. I have looked at things in greater detail and my confusion has deepened.
The first KMZ file, Storage_box_25080401.kmz, cuts 5 pieces that are 5 mm thick.
I imported that same kmz file and deleted the stl file that had been sliced, leaving all of the settings the same. I then imported only one of the pieces of the original 5 piece stl and created this kmz file.
The settings were not changed except for the need to select the pocket in the pocket operation for the newly imported stl file of only one piece. Here is the new kmz file. exper07.kmz
This is the view after slicing for the original 5 piece stl.
This is the view after slicing for the 1 piece stl.
There are more passes and deeper cuts for the 5 piece setup than for the 1 piece setup even though the settings are all the same.
Is it a mistake to try to cut multiple pieces at one time? Or, is there something else I should be controlling for?
in your combined workspace, one of the pieces is “floating” above the others which is increasing the cut depth of the other pieces which adds more passes. when you single out one piece, this goes away so you get fewer depth cuts.
Thanks. Now, I am feeling a bit silly.
