Hi anyone/everyone who can possibly help here. I have a Genmitsu Proverxl 4030 that I am probably intending to use far beyond it’s scope - as a professional engineer but not a manufacturer taking my first stab at CNC, I have already run into some quirks/features I don’t understand.
To simplify the problem, I have a walnut wood plank that is 20mm thick that I want to machine down to 15mm (No, I don’t have space for a thicknesser) and I have a nice little 1/4" surfacing bit that is essentially a fly-cutter with a 40mm diameter. I’ve used CARVECO previously and surfaced some really hard composites with this bit quite successfully, but the limitations of that software for more complex geometry has brought me to kirimoto.
In the kirimoto CNC workbench I make a roughing operation with a 1/4 inch endmill, and the toolpath looks good and the animation looks to follow it, and the tool starts centred over the origin in XY. If I choose my 40mm surfacing bit, it generates what looks like a good toolpath but in the animation, it starts with pretty much the entire tool within the bounds of the workpiece (not centred on the origin at all!) and in the animation, the tool appears to go way off the right side of the workpiece and also a fair way off the top too - like the entire toolpath has shifted the same amount the tool centre shifted when changing to the 40mm bit.
Is there a known problem or limitation with this software or the PROVERXL 4030 machine profile that causes this? Or is it purely a bug with the animator?
If its any help, on the Preview tab I can see the tool start position at 0,0 XY if its a 1/4" end mill, but if I use the 40mm cutter, it shifts the start point and first movement (a plunge into the wood, not what i want at all) offset by 15-20mm in both X and Y. What’s happening? Any help?
