Depth of cut puzzle

I have drawn in Fusion, a pulley blank. Cut from foam so I can cast, then machine.

Foam is 19.5mm thick, Pulley will have 133mm outer diameter, inner island 63.5 through holes are 25.4 diameter.

My dimensions are perfect except for the depth of cut in the web area, - too shallow.

The problem is the web which should be 12.7mm thick cuts out to 19mm.

My depth to remove should be 13.1 is instead 9.8

Many tries, not a clue. Pretty good at flipping now! Finally understand that quite well.

If it would help I can bring the Fusion file in if someone suggests a proper file format.

you need to enable clear faces on roughing operations if you have faces that do not align with the step down value.

Thank you Stewart, I had read that but do not understand the why. I will play with it and find out.

much appreciated.

@stewart
Morning Stewart That worked, my web thickness is now cut to the right depth thought it looks strange watching the bit mill air above my work piece then go back and finish depth.

A different question - using Outline to part off my project. The foam I am cutting is quite deep so I enabled wide cutout in Outline. My cut fills with chips that I am unable to adequately remove as cutting progresses. The bit cuts to full depth then goes back to top surface for the widening portion. If the step down stepped to the side to widen the kerf as it progressed down like a zigzag sewing stitch or tiny circular motion My airjet and vacuum would have better extraction.

I suspect I am again, missing a setting. I do that a lot.

I appreciate all your work. David
