I’m back for another attempt to learn Kiri.Moto which has beenan off and on project, but when I try to load an STL on Android, I click the file at the top right, Import, pick my file (Spyro.stl for this example) and get back to the browser with the file menu still open. This is on multiple Android devices and in multiple browsers. All acts the same. However, it works properly on x86-64 be it Windows or Linux with Spyro appearing front and center as expected. What am I doing wrong on Android?
Also, the interface on Android is extremely cramped. Can we configure the layout to where we can uncover buttons that are overlayed?
Android probably has memory limitations that make this hard. Are you using a phone or tablet? I haven’t spent much time optimizing for small screen real-estate.
I am trying to use both a phone and a tablet, though I did wind up figuring my problem once I got home. That said, I would like to ask for a message to pop up, cussing me out for giving Kiri.Moto a not STL in either a friendly manner, or Linus Torvalds level of rudeness, assuming I didn’t miss it earlier. Coloring the message bright red may help me notice it if it was there and I didn’t spot it. In case you’re wondering, I was feeding it a partial file which wasn’t valid. Spent all day before posting trying to chase it down.
As far as screen real estate, there is some overlap on my tablet but it isn’t a complete disaster though I am still trying to figure out how to move my model on the build plate using only a touchscreen. It wants to turn my view instead.
On my phone, the material menu covers most of the interface, though. I might grab screenshots later on.
I also didn’t realize this was a one man project. Looking like we might have something nice taking shape here.
the left panel is collapsible with:
preferences → interface → slide out
by invalid do you mean the STL is non-manifold? this is detectable in some cases and not in others. the STL file format is brutally simple and contains nothing so useful as a checksum, so it is not immediately obvious if it contains errors or other corruption.
